The night before this trip, you are recommended to stay in Mango Guest House in the Elephantine Island Aswan, which is clean, comfortable and well located. The Temple of Philae is only 650 meters (0.4 mile) away, Nubian Museum 1,100 meters (0.7 mile) away, and Aswan Botanical Garden 1,300 meters (0.8 mile) away, all can be reached on foot.
Presently, there is only one public bus from Aswan to Abu Simbel every day. It departs at 08:00, so you'd better get to the bus station before 07:00 to purchase a ticket. To get to the bus station, you need to walk to the ferry port to take a ferry, setting sail every 10 minutes, to the east bank of the Nile, then take a taxi for about 5 minutes to get there. There are many buses at the bus station. Ask the staff which one is going to Abu Simbel and double confirm it with the driver before getting on. Bus fare is EGP50 per person and passport is required when buying the ticket.
Special Note: Sometimes, foreign travelers are not allowed to take the public bus to Abu Simbel, when you can only travel by air, private car or join in a group tour including transfers. In consideration of this situation and to ensure a smooth trip, we advised you to contact the bus station the day before whether the bus will run or not the next day.

Since the bus returns at 13:00 and to save time for sightseeing, it is suggested that you take a shared taxi to reach Abu Simbel directly. The fare is EGP10 per person. The entry ticket of Abu Simbel is EGP225, including admissions to Great Temple of Rameses II and Temple of Hathor. If you will use a camera to take photos and videos, an additional camera fee of EGP300 is required. Please know that you don't need to pay the camera fee if you take photos only with your cell phone.
After the visit, take a shared taxi to get back to Abu Simbel Bus Station and take the bus usually setting off at 13:00 to return to Aswan. One kind notice: you’d better confirm with the driver about the real-time return schedule beforehand.
