Cairo Airport is about 40 kilometers (25 miles) away from the Giza Pyramids. How to get to Giza Pyramids from Cairo airport? Below are 4 common travel ways:
► Taxi:
For most foreign travelers, this is the best way. When getting out of the Arrival Hall of the airport, you will see many taxi drivers calling for guests. There are usually two kinds of taxis: black ones and white ones. The black taxis are normally old without meters; you’d better confirm with the driver the fare before getting on. The white taxis are new, equipped with air-conditioners and meters to calculate the fare.
► Car rental:
Cairo airport has three terminals, all with offices of the car rental companies. If you plan to drive by yourself, please prepare your passport, driver's license, and international driving permit (IDP). Please pay special attention that your driver’s license and the IDP should be issued by the same country. The rental fee differs based on your driving distance and type of the vehicle you rent.
► Book a tour:
If you want to visit as many sites as possible within the limited layover time rather than just the Giza, it's better book a layover tour with a travel agency.
