Itinerary: Overview
To take an Everest Base Camp helicopter tour, you are advised to book the seat with a reliable agency at an early time. There might be different routes with different prices for you to choose from, while, the most classic route is to fly on a helicopter from Kathmandu to Lukla for refueling, then onto Kala Patthar for the best view of the Everest region, finally land at the Everest View Hotel for breakfast and then fly back to the Kathmandu Airport. The whole journey takes around 4 to 5 hours.

06:00 - 06:30 AM: Early Morning Departure
Today you will need to get up early. If your helicopter tour includes the transfer service from your hotel to the Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, the driver will come to pick you up at the appointed time. Otherwise, please book a taxi beforehand to take you to the airport on time. Usually, it takes 20 minutes' drive and the taxi fee is NPR 500 per cab.
06:30 - 07:00 AM: Preparations and Check-in
Meet the representative at the airport. Make preparations and then check in at the helicopter counter. The captain will take you to enjoy an unforgettable Everest Base Camp helicopter tour.
07:00 - 07:45 AM: Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla
When the helicopter takes off, you will see the panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley and the beautiful Sherpa villages. As it continues to fly east, the formidable snow-covered peaks will come into view. The main peaks are Mt. Manaslu, Langtang, and Jugal Himal in the west. After, you will see more eastern Himalaya peaks such as Mt. Gaurishankar, Melung Tse, and Numbur. In around half an hour, the helicopter will land and refuel at Lukla with an altitude of 2,820 m (9,251 ft). About 10 to 15 minutes will be spent here.
07:45 - 08:15 AM: Fly from Lukla to Kala Patthar
Then the helicopter will fly over the famous Namche Bazaar, the Tyangboche Monastery, and appreciate the bird's view of the Mt. Everest. The Namche Bazaar is a midway stop on the Everest climbing route. It is built on the hillside, like being in the circular auditorium of an open-air theater. Below the hillside, two deep river valleys are in the shape of a V converge. The Thyangboche Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu Valley in eastern Nepal. It is located at an altitude of 3,867 m (12,687 ft). On the way to the Everest Base Camp, it is one of the most famous and largest temples in the entire region.
Continue to fly over the Pheriche, Khumbu Icefall and glaciers. The Khumbu Icefall is considered to be the fortress and the most dangerous section when climbers try to hike to the summit of the Mt. Everest. Later, you will reach today's destination - the Everest Base Camp. In the climbing season of the Mt. Everest, climbers from all over the world will fill the glacier. The colorful tents can stretch for one kilometer. You will land at Kala Patthar, 5,545 m (18,192 ft) above sea level. It is the best viewing spot for thousands of snowy peaks including the Mt. Everest. You will have 15 to 20 minutes here to sightsee and take nice pictures.
08:15 - 09:30 AM: Fly to the Everest View Hotel for Breakfast
Continue to fly to the Everest View Hotel at 3,880 m (12,730 ft), one of the highest placed hotels in the world, where you will enjoy a hearty breakfast and celebrate the exciting moment of your Everest helicopter tour. The hotel offers a 360-degree view of the awe-inspiring peaks. Enjoy your time there.
09:30 - 10:30 AM: Fly back to Kathmandu with a Stop at Lukla
After breakfast, you will return to Kathmandu by helicopter and stop at Lukla on the way for refueling. During the trip back, you can also view the wonderful scenery below and around you. Finally, you will arrive at the Kathmandu airport.
10:30 - 11:00 AM: Get Back to the Hotel
Enjoy your included transfer service to the hotel, or take taxi back to your hotel.

Important: information about the Everest Helicopter Tour
• Due to the high altitude and thin air of the Everest Base Camp, a helicopter can only carry 3 people at a time. So, if there are more than 3 people, the helicopter will shuttle between Pheriche and the Everest Base Camp.
• Given the limited load capacity of helicopters, please provide your weight information when you book a seat, so that your agency can make suitable arrangements for you.
• Everyone will have a window seat for sightseeing. Fasten your seat belt on board and don’t change your seat and stand from your seat anytime on the flight.
• Oxygen tanks and first aid kit are always available in the helicopter in case of emergency.
• There is no age limit for this trip, but you need to inform the agency any concerns you might have during the flight.
• It is sunny, windy and cold in the Mt. Everest. In the winter from September to February, it is recommended to wear warm and windproof clothes, scarves, gloves and sunglasses. In the summer from March to August, you can wear windproof and warm clothes, as well as sunglasses.
