How to Travel between Shanghai and Huangshan

Shanghai to Huangshan distance is about 400km (249mi). To travel from Shanghai to Huangshan, high speed trains with the duration of around 2.5 - 3 hours are very popular, with a second class seat pricing at CNY180-206. From Huangshan North Railway Station, there are tourist buses to Yellow Mountian Scenic Area. Shanghai to Huangshan long-distance buses are also available, taking 5.5-6 hours and costing CNY135.

How to Travel From Huangshan North Train Station to Yellow Mountain Scenic Area

By Tourist Bus:
On the west of the front square of Huangshan North Railway Station, there is Huangshan Tourist Transport Center operating frequent nonstop tourist buses to Yellow Mountain Scenic Area. The buses depart from 8:30 to 19:00 with an interval of 10-30 minutes.

By City Bus:
Take bus no. 1 at the railway station to Qiyun Mountain Scenic Area, transfer to Qiyun Mountain - Yellow Mountain Special Tourist Line and get off at Dongling Transfer Center. Walk southwestward for about 600 meters (660 yards), then turn right and walk another 600 meters to the entrance of the scenic area.

How to Travel from Huangshan General Bus Station and Taiping Bus Station to Yellow Mountain Scenic Area

From Huangshan General Bus Station: The bus station operates nonstop tourist buses to Yellow Mountain running from 6:45 to 7:55 with an interval of 40 minutes to 1.5 hours.

Direct ticket to tunxi and prices of hostel nearby

Hey where I can buy this direct ticket. I want to go on friday 6th at 6 o clock from Shanghai. What are the cheapes hostel next to tunxi station. Thanks I’m advance

You need to purchase the bus ticket when you arriving at the coach station.
About the hotel, you are suggested to stay at Green Tree Inn, which is located at No, 13, Qiyun Avenu, Tunxi District.

What is the direct bus from Shanghai Pudong East Long-distance Bus Station to Huangshan?

Is it possible to buy the ticket in advance? Is it possible that the tickets are sold out?

The direct bus departs at 7:40 and 16:58 with CNY135. You can buy the ticket in advance on some Chinese APP. Generally speaking, it can't be sold out. Or you can go the bus station early in the morning and purchase tickets on the spot.

if we are leaving Shanghai

18:10 and arrive very late, will we have a place to stay near to the Mountain Bus stop?

There are several hotels near Tunxi Bus Station and the Jintai Hotel is locates opposite to the bus station.

The Xihai Hotel is recommended on the mountain but it will be a little expensive. It takes about CNY1,500 per night for a standard room.

I cannot find a direct flight shanghai to Huangshan (Tunxi) for 23rd May 2019.

Yes, you are correct. There is no direct flight on that day.
Thus you are suggested to take the direct coach from Shanghai South Coach Station to Tunxi. The ticket fare is CNY 132/person. The duration is 5 to 5.5 hours.
