Consisting of eight lines, Shenzhen subway provides a relatively fast and economical way of transferring in the city. It also reaches to the border between the city and Hong Kong at Luo Hu station and Fu Tian Kou An station, where passengers can transfer to Lo Wu station and Lok Ma Chau Station of Hong Kong's MTR East Rail Line for the Hong Kong travel. Moreover, Luo Bao Line also runs to the hot destination Window of the World and Baoan Airport. The announcers in the trains and stations broadcast in Mandarin, Cantonese, and English in turn.

Tickets Fare
Shenzhen metro employs a stage fare system. The more you travel, the more you pay. The starting fare is CNY2 for the first 2.5 miles (4 kilometers) and CNY1 is added for the next 2.5 miles (4 kilometers). After 7.5 miles (12 kilometers), it will be CNY1 every extra 4-mile (6-kilometer). After 15 miles (24 kilometers), it will charge CNY 1 per extra 5-mile (8-kilometer).

Single Journey Ticket (Token)
Single journey ticket is a green or yellow RFID plastic token, while the Transportation Card is a smart card similar to the Octopus Card used on the MTR rail lines in Hong Kong. It can be purchased at a vending machine. The machine has a high standard of the smoothness of the paper currency, so exchange coins from service staff if the bills cannot be identified. Each person can buy as many as 8 tickets at one time, so repeat the procedure for more tickets. Ticket vending machine only accepts CNY0.5 and CNY1 coins, CNY5 and CNY10 bank notes. The RFID token as the single journey ticket records the station entrance information after the purchase. To exit the station, one just needs to deposit the token in the slot at the station exit gate.

Passengers using Local Transportation Card can receive a 5% discount. The card is easy to use just wave it in front of the card reader at all entrances and exits. The card can be reloaded at the value add machines. As the machine only accepts CNY50 and CNY100 bank notes, the minimum value added would be CNY50.

This pass is available at the Customer Service Centers of the following metro stations: Qiaocheng East (OCT East) and Bao’an Center on Line 1; Grand Theatre, Civic Center and Wanxia on Line 2; Liuyue on Line 3; Huangbeiling, Minzhi and Fanshen on Line 5; Chegongmiao, Hongshuwan, Houhai, Nanshan, Qianhaiwan, Bao’an, Bihaiwan, Airport, Airport North, Fuyong, Qiaotou, Tangwei, Ma’anshan, Shajing, Houting, Songgang and Bitou on Line 11.
2. Only Laojie Station, Convention & Exhibition Center Station and Bao’an Center Station provide card returning service.
One-day Travel Pass
The pass is sold CNY20 and could be purchased at any ticket booths set at Customer Service Centers of metro stations. It cannot be recharged. Passenger could take all the city's metro lines without limit in 24 hours after the first use. Besides, this pass is not required to be returned after use.
Preferential Prices
2. Senior citizens over the age of 65, and the physically disabled can also take free rides on local metro.
