World Heritage of Pakistan

Welcome to Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan! Our guide and the driver will pick you up from the airport on schedule and transfer you to the hotel.

In the afternoon, the world heritage tour of Pakistan will begin with a visit to two museums, namely Karachi National Museum and Mohatta Palace Museum. The former will give a glimpse of history and culture of Pakistan with the help of artifacts such as coins, paintings, sculptures and manuscripts; while the latter devoted to the classic and contemporary arts of Pakistan, impresses visitors with intriguing architecture itself - built in traditional palaces of Rajastan with pink and yellow stones and delicate carvings.

Later, tour the Mazar-e-Quaid, the national mausoleum and final resting place of the founder of Paksistan - Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Our last stop today will be Clifton Beach, fun for people-spotting and leisurely stroll with Arabian Sea breeze.

Today we will visit Chaukhandi Tombs, an Islamic graveyard built in the shape of pyramids, notable for intricate sandstone carvings. There are about 1,160 different designs on over 600 tombs dating from the 15th to the 18th centuries. Later, drive to Hyderabad in 2 or 3 hours. En route we'll visit the historical Bhanbhore Port, Makli Necropolis - among the largest in the world and known for some magnificent funerary structures of royalty, prestigious saints and scholars, as well as the 17-century Shah Jahan Mosque boasting impressive display of colored tile work. Lunch is served at the stunning Keenjhar Lake. Check into the hotel after arrival in Hyderabad.

Drive to Larkana and visit The Shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on the way. Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai is a saint, mystic, Sufi scholar, Sindhi philosopher and peerless poet of Sindi verses. Then stop at Sehwan Sharif to sightsee the Shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar, dedicated to the 13th-centery Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar. Stay overnight at the hotel in Larkana.

Visit Mohenjo Daro in the morning. Mohenjo Daro or "Mound of the Dead", built around 2500 BCE and flourished between 2600 and 1900 BCE, was one of the largest city of ancient Indus Valley Civilization. The ruins of commercial shops, residences, public houses and urban infrastructure such as wells, sanitation systems suggest a sophisticatedly planned city. The reason why the city was abandoned is still a mystery.

In the afternoon, we will head out to Sukkur to visit Masoom Shah Minaro and Seven Sister Shrine. Masoom Shah Minaro is a minaret built of red brick in around 1607. It is 31 meters in height and you can climb 84 steps to the top and see the whole city of Sukkur. Seven Sister Shrine, located along the bank of Indus River, is a series of tombs for the Seven Sisters derived from Hindu folklore. The sunset view against the river bank and bridge are quite amazing.

Today we will tour the Derawar Fort stood up on Cholistan Desert, an imposing square fortress built in the 9th century. It has 40 bastions of which the walls rise up to 30 meters. In the afternoon, we will visit the Noor Mahal. Inspired by Italian chateau, the exterior of the palace is made of finely cut and dressed bricks and the five domes in angular elliptical shapes are a stroke of prominent Islamic architecture. Enjoy the rest of the day to discover the city on your own.

Drive to the historical city of Multan and check in the hotel. In the afternoon visit Tomb of Shah Rukn-e-Alam, an impressive Tughlug-style shrine dedicated to the renowned Sufi saint Sheikh Rukn-ud-Din Abul Fateh. Next we will tour the Fort Kohna Qas im Garden on a high mound in the city center. Built about 2,600 years ago, most part of the fortress was destroyed and the rest turned into a park with a museum, a palace and serval shrines. Last, we will go to the Tomb Shah Shams Sabzwari Tabrez, join the devotees inside and get engulfed in the peaceful tranquility of the shrine and its exquisite architecture.

Drive to Lahore and visit the ruins of Harappa on the way. Harappa was a flourished city in the Indus civilization. There were well-planed streets, public and private buildings, bathing structures, wells and drains on site.

Our first stop in Lahore will be Badshahi Mosque. Constructed in 1673, the Pakistani second largest mosque is known for its carved marble, elaborated plasterwork and richly embellished interior. Then we will go to Lahore Fort, with its existing base structure built during the reign of Mughal Emperor Akbar between 1556 and 1605 and expanded by subsequent Mughal, Sikh and British rulers, and now a large citadel complex of marble mosques, grand palaces, halls and elegant gardens.

Later pay a visit to Shalimar Bagh, a Persian style walled garden complex built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1641. It is arranged in three descending terraces and features a rectilinear layout, elegant pavilions and large expanses of flowing water. Next, we will go to the Minar-e-Pakista, a 70-meter high Islamic, Mughal and contemporary style tower with panoramic views of the city from its top, and Lahore Museum exhibiting a splendid collection of arts and crafts, jewelry and Gandharan sculpture from different historical periods. In the end, drive to Wagah Border between Pakistan and India to watch the flag lowering ceremony.

Drive to Peshawar. After lunch visit Bala Hisar Fort, a 2,500-year old citadel sitting on a high mound of Peshawar city. Then go to Kissa Khani Bazaar used to be the metering ground for skilled storytellers, traders, caravans and military adventurers from central Asia. Next we are going to appreciate the ancient Gandhara and Greco-Buddhist artworks housed in Peshawar Museum, and tour the 17th-century Mughal-era Mohabat Khan Mosque with iconic white marble façade.

Drive to Swat after breakfast and visit Takht-e-Bahi Monastery on the way. The well-preserved monastic complex consisting of numerous chapels and stupas dating from the 1st century is a representative architecture of Gandhara Buddhism. In the afternoon, we will go to the Swat Museum famous for the antiques including sculptures, coins and weapons of Gandhara civilization.

Take a 4 or 5 hours' drive to Islamabad. Stop to visit Taxila Museum renowned for a comprehensive collection of stone Buddhist sculptures dating from the 1st to the 7th century and explore the ruins of early settlement Sirkap, Jaulian and Mohra Muradu monasteries on Taxila archeological site.

In the morning visit Faisal Mosque, the largest mosque in Pakistan and the fifth largest in the world, and petal-shaped Pakistan Monument. Next go to Lok Versa Museum with diverse kinds of folk crafts and Pakistan Museum displaying items of ecology, geology and paleontology of the country. Before lunch, relax at the lush-green natural splendor of Margalla Hills, part of foothills of Himalayas. In the afternoon, we will discover the bustling and colorful street markets in the city of Rawalpindi.
