Welcome to the beautiful "Spring City", Kunming. After landing at the Kunming Airport, you will be picked up by your experienced tour guide and driver on time and then escorted to the hotel in 40 minutes. On the way, your guide will give a brief introduction of this Kunming to Lijiang tour itinerary in the following days. 

After taking a short break, you will be guided to the first stop of your 5 days Yunnan tour package - the Flowers and Birds Market, where the plants are full of vigor and the birds and insects are quite active. Next, you will pay a visit to the Green Lake Park. There are causeways leading to the Mid-lake Islet, where you can embrace the stunning emerald-like lake view. Finally, you will be taken back to the hotel for a good rest.

In the morning, you will mingle with the locals on a tour to the Zhuanxin Farmers' Market. It is the most popular bazaar for the local people, and also a paradise for food hunters. Various vegetables, meats and fruits are sold along the narrow alleys. By the way, never be shy to bargain over the price as it is an old tradition in this market.

The afternoon will be highlighted by a visit to the Stone Forest. As one of the top scenic spots in Kunming, the Stone Forest possesses amazing karst wonders, boasting limestone pillars, screens, waterfalls, underground rivers and caves. You may not be able to take your eyes off these masterpieces of nature. After the tour, a private ride will take you back to the hotel.

Your guide will see you off at Kunming Railway Station for a morning bullet train to Lijiang, which takes around 3 hours. Once you arrive in Lijiang, your local guide will wait for you at the exit of the station on time.

Today's Yunnan tour to Kunming and Lijiang will start from the Black Dragon Pool, which is a perfect site to appreciate the reflection of the snow-capped mountains. Then, the Dongba Culture Museum inside the scenic area is worthy of your attention. The museum's collection boasts more than 12,000 cultural relics, including precious scriptures, paintings and living vessels of the Naxi people.

Finally, your guide will help you check into a well-selected hotel in Lijiang Old Town. You can relax by wandering around the town on your own. You will find that there is no city wall in the old town, which was not destroyed later, but no wall was built in the first place. As the major saying goes, this is because Lijiang occupies an advantaged geographical location. The old town is embraced by mountains, which made up the natural barriers to protect the city in ancient times. Therefore, there is no need to construct a city wall. It’s also an implicit proof that Lijiang Old Town had been sustaining the peace and prosperity since the city was founded.

As you are going to hike a lot today, you're suggested to have a big breakfast. Then a comfortable ride will take you to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. On the way, we will stop at Shigu Town to admire the First Bend of the Yangtze River. It is no doubt that you will be amazed by the splendid views. In addition, the thrilling iron chain bridge will enable you to sense the air of gunpowder left from the past wars.

After the lunch break, we will make our way to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. Located in one of the world's deepest canyons, it is a very popular destination for hikers. The Tiger Leaping Gorge is comprised of the upper, middle and lower gorges. Your guide will lead you to walk a section that is both majestic and physically moderate. Finally, we will return to the hotel. Have a good sleep tonight and get ready for the next day's Yunnan tour to Kunming and Lijiang.

For an in-depth exploration of Lijiang, we will head for the Baisha Village this morning. Famous for the exquisite temple murals, this village was the original dwelling place of the Naxi minority. You will first have a leisurely family visit to a local's residence for a better understanding of their ethnic culture, and then admire the renowned Baisha Murals under your guide's company.
