Day 2 Lhasa
Potola Palace
After breakfast, your Lhasa tour will first start with the Drepung Monastery, located in the western suburb of the city. It is one of the 'Three Great Monasteries' of the Gelug sect and the largest one in Tibetan Buddhism with thousands of monks. Drepung literally means rice heap. Looking from a distance, the monastery is indeed like a heap of rice, consisting of a group of white buildings layer upon layer. We will spend several hours here strolling around the 15th-century monastery and appreciating the spectacular architecture
After that, we will head to the Norbulingka Park, the most beautiful and largest man-made park in Tibet. This park has been built for 200 years and used to be the Summer Palace of successive Dalai Lamas, the spiritual leaders of Tibet.
Then you will be accompanied to visit the Sera Monastery, the second largest monastery in Tibet which is well-known for the excellent debating of Buddhist doctrines among lamas. This kind of debating is a good learning method, an examination system to check monks’ study, and also the way they pursue the ideal of the heart with dedication. The debates are generally held during afternoon from Monday to Saturday and monks will clap the hands to enhance the strength of the argument. Seeing such an exciting monk debating will leave you a deep impression.

Day 3 Lhasa
Our Clients in Lhasa
This day, your impressive excursion to the splendid Potala Palace is scheduled in the morning. Originally built in the 7th century as an imperial palace, the Potala Palace experienced a 1,000-year queasy time until the reconstruction in the 17th century. From then on, it has been the political, religious, cultural and economic center of Tibet. The total palace is over 200 meters (656 ft.) high on the hilltop and there are 9 stories inside though it looks like 13 floors from outside, housing more than 1,000 rooms. Currently, it is the largest treasure house of this mysterious land, attracting a great number of travelers and pilgrims every day.
After lunch, the Jokhang Temple located in the city center is our next stop. Constructed in the 7th century, the peak time of Tubo Kingdom, this temple is the best architectural combination of Tibetan, Han, Nepalese and Indian styles. It is also a holy Buddhist temple worshiping the rare life-size statue of Sakyamuni at the age of twelve, and that’s why the temple becomes the holy center of Tibetan Buddhism. Around the temple, it is the thriving bazaar of Barkhor Street, which assembles a large number of pilgrims, travelers, businessmen and expats. Walking on the city’s most famous walking street, you can see a lot of interesting shops with jewelry, Tangkas, prayer wheels, and traditional leather boots.
Today's private journey will come to an end after visiting the Nunnery in Lhasa. In fact, it is not easy for women Buddhists to study in this nunnery and only outstanding talents who can recite 500 pages of sutra fluently can be admitted. It takes a long time to finish the hard task and someone doesn’t pass it even has prepared for 16 years. Now, there are 87 Buddhist nuns in total, from the age of 30 to 82.
