Xi'an Long-Distance Bus
Xi'an is ranked as the second largest highway transportation hub in China, supported by five national highways of 345 kilometers (214.4 miles) and twelve provincial freeways of 266 kilometers (165.3 miles). Additionally, ten freeways have been constructed between the urban area and the districts and counties in the city. Any journey between each other of them takes no more than one hour.
Presently, Xi'an's passenger transport is mainly supported by seven large long-distance bus stations, all of which are built in the urban area. Besides, there are several small stations dotted in the city. Generally speaking, most of the buses in the same station leave for cities and counties in the same direction within Shaanxi Province. I note you have adviced another questionner to use the high-speed train, but I've been told that you should go to the high-speed station one and a half hours before the departure time. Is this correct? The trains seem to be almost booked up - is there a reason for this (eg. national holiday, fewer trains than in summer)
2. The most common and convenient way to Huashan: Take high speed train from Xi'an North Railway station to Huashan North Railway station. It takes only 40 minutes on the way and there are over 20 trains every day, while 2 hours by bus. After you arrive Huashan North station, you can take free bus to scenic area directly. It is not true you have to go to high speed train station one and a half hours in advance. Actually, you can take metro line 2 to Xi'an North station directly. It is easy and fast to go through security and to take your train.
