First Port to Enter Mainland China

Luohu District is under the jurisdiction of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. It is one of the central urban areas of Shenzhen. It borders Yantian District on the east, Futian District on the west, Longgang Distrist and Longhua District on the north. Luohu District is the earliest developed urban area of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, and an important part of the CBD of Shenzhen. Luohu District borders Hong Kong on the south, and Wenjindu Port and Luohu Port connect Hong Kong with Shenzhen. Among them, Luohu Port is the largest port and is also an important window for China’s foreign exchanges. There are many places of interest in Luohu District including Wutong Mountain Scenic Area, Shenzhen Dongmen Old Street, Bamboo Park and so on.

Best Places to Visit & Top Things to Do in Luohu District

You may need 1-2 days for Luohu travel. Tourism attractions including Wutong Mountain Scenic Area, Shenzhen Dongmen Old Street, Shenzhen Paleontology Museum, Bamboo Park and Honghu Park are worth visiting.

 Wutong Mountain Scenic Area
It is a natural scenic spot with mountain scenery and natural plants. There are various kinds of wildlife and plants. In this scenic area, the main peak of Wutong Mountain is 943 meters (3,094 feet) above the sea level, which is the first peak in Shenzhen. When there are fewer rainfalls in the winter and spring, it is a good place for travelers to go climbing. And in the summer, it becomes a summer resort.

 Shenzhen East Gate Old Street
It is the first commercial center after the establishment of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone. It consists of 8 municipal roads, 1 scenic street and 3 large leisure plazas, which is a modern commercial pedestrian block that retain the traditional charm. Travelers can go shopping, taste local snacks and visit the temples, ancestral halls, residences with distinctive Lingnan characteristics.

 Shenzhen Paleontology Museum
It is a museum of Paleontology and its exhibition hall looks like a huge rock castle. There are different types of paleontological fossil specimens in different eras. Travelers can learn about the origin and evolution of biology, which will be an unforgettable memory.

 Visit Hong Kong through Luohu Port
Visitors can get to Hong Kong through Luohu Port which is located in the southeast of Shenzhen. This port is in service from 06:30 to 24:00. Travelers can take Metro Line 1 or buses to the port.

Best Time to Visit Luohu District

The best time to visit Luohu District is winter and early spring from December to March with a temperature of 15-21℃ (59-69.8℉). The climate in Luohu District belongs to the subtropical maritime climate with abundant rainfalls and sufficient sunshine. The annual average temperature in Luohu District is about 22℃ (71.6℉). July is hottest with an average temperature of 33℃(91.4℉), and January is coldest in 20℃(68℉). Travelers should pay attention to that from April to September is the rainy season and there are more typhoons from July to September.

Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport is about 45 km (28 mi) from Luohu District. Travelers can take a flight first and take Metro Line 11 and Line 2 to Luohu Shenzhen. It is the most convenient for travelers to take trains to Shenzhen Railway Station which is on the southern part of Luohu District. Taking trains to Shenzhen East Railway Station or Shenzhen Futian Railway Station is also a good choice, Metro Line 5 and Line 2 are serving people to Luohu District every day. Luohu District is close to Hong Kong, so travelers can get to Hong Kong first, and then take MTR East Rail Line to Luohu Port.
 
Within the city area, Metro Line 1, 2, 5, 7, 9 are in service. The taxi charges CNY 10 for the first 2 km and CNY 2.6/km for subsequent distances. It may cost CNY 10-15 from Shenzhen Railway Station, CNY 20-25 from Shenzhen East Railway Station, CNY 25-30 from Futian Railway Station and CNY 120-130 from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport to Luohu District China.

Best Luohu Food to Try

There are various old and small restaurants serving special dishes in Luohu District such as Runji Beef Offal Restaurant, Miwang Steamed Vermicelli Roll Restaurant, Qiangli Herbal Tea House, and Ganji Dessert.

Niusanbao Rice Noodles is one of the famous dishes in this restaurant which is mainly made by sirloin, tripe and beef tendons. The soup is rich in flavor and the beef offal is soft and melting in the mouth.

Arriving by flight from Hong Kong & taxi to Shenzhen - where do i clear my immigrations?
What is the name of the control point. Also, do i have to remove the luggage from the taxi & carry it while clearing immigrations?

The HK taxis are not allowed to drive into the border limit areas, so you need to get off somewhere and then take MTR to the Luo Wu check point. Your luggage should also go through immigration check.

Hi, I am a Singaporean living in HK. I have a HK Working Visa and HKID. DoIi need a visa to enter Shenzhen for a day trip or weekend trip? thank you.

Yes, you do need a visa. However, you are eligible for the 5-day Visa on Arrival in Shenzhen, so you just need to queue up in the visa office in the early morning to get it. It is recommended to get it in Shekou, as the queue line will be shorter.

144 visa to shenzhen
I am a Malaysian going to HK in July 2023. Intend to visit Shenzhen as well. Would like to ask whether I can get the 144 visa from HongKong and how much is the cost and where can I get the 144 visa?

It depends on your next destination. If you depart from HK to SZ and then return to HK, then it is not eligible for the 144-hour visa-free transit. This is not a visa so it does not cost any money. The eligible itinerary is like this: Malaysia- SZ- HK.
Or you have to obtain a Chinese visa in advance.
