Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC)

From September 29th, 2015, the Center is responsible for receiving applications of ordinary passport holders for visiting mainland China. Postal service for applications is currently not available. Online appointment is not mandatory but strongly recommended.

Applicants holding Diplomatic, Service or Official passport, or who apply for Hong Kong/Macao visa/entry permit, should still submit the application directly to the Embassy.

Meanwhile, the CVASC office in Thailand provides document authentication service at a certain cost. Foreigners in need of this service should go to the CVASC instead of the embassy while Chinese applicants are still required to apply for the authentication service from the embassy.

Questions & Answers on China Embassy in Thailand
Asked by Morad from FRANCE | Aug. 03, 2023 02:34Reply
As a temporary tourist in Thailand with no residence permit, can I apply for a Chinese visa ?
Good afternoon, I'm a French citizen spending a month holiday in Thailand and I would like to go to China at the end of my 30 days. Can I apply for a Chinese visa at the Chinese visa center in Chiang Mai or the Chinese embassy in Bangkok even though I'm not a thai resident and don't have a long term visa? The reason why I'm asking is that it looks like it's one of the documents required by the Chinese embassy.
Thanks

Generally, it is highly risky if you don't have the long-term stay permit.

My son has just finished his first degree in China . He has been given pré-admission letter to study for his masters. He is waiting for jw2 forms . His stay visa is to expire today. He wants to exit China today to Thailand and apply for Chinese students visa free there. Is he illegible to apply for the visa in Thailand as he does not have a permanent resident permit in Thailand?

I'm afraid he will be very possibly be rejected in Thailand. A better way is to extend the current stay in local Entry and Exit Administration Office in China.

It is not suggested to apply for in Thailand because you are probably rejected as you have only a tourist visa rather than a residence permit.

No, you cannot. If you are an Australian citizen, you have to go back to Australia and the birth certificate should be certified by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and then you can get a birth certificate notarized in Chinese Embassy in Australia.

Yes, you can apply for it in Thailand, but it's not guaranteed you will succeed for sure. Anyway, give it a try at first.
