Italy has a diverse climate, with continental climate in the north and Mediterranean climate in the south.

In summer, most areas in Italy except for the northern and central mountains are extremely hot, with the highest temperature often exceeding 35°C (95°F). Usually, the high temperature starts from the end of June and lasts till August. August is also the national holiday month, many Italian families will spend their holidays in coastal cities.

During the winter time, the northern Italy is relatively cold and accompanied by heavy snows, but you can go skiing and enjoy the snow-covered landscape of the mountains. The southern and island areas are relatively warm, with an average temperature of about 15°C (59°F).

Generally speaking, the best time to take Italy tours is spring from April to June and autumn from September to October.

Railway is the first choice for most travelers. Italy has a very convenient railway network, fast trains are available between major tourism cities like Venice, Florence, Rome and Naples, and most popular train routes take only 1-2 hours. Tipping is not mandatory in Italy. If the restaurant has already charged Coperto, Pane, or Servizio, you don't need to tip again. While if the service is really good, 1 - 2 euros per person would be fine. There is no need to tip for taking coffee at the bar or taking a taxi.

For the tour guide and driver, consider tipping 5 - 10 euros each. Your decision should depend entirely on whether the service provided to you by the guide and driver can impress you. For hotel bellboy, 1 euro per bag is ok.
