Malaysia is divided into two parts by South China Sea: West (known as Peninsular Malaysia) and East. Peninsular Malaysia is more popular among first time travelers, which has the landmark Petronas Towers in capital city Kuala Lumpur, the famous Dutch Red Square Stadhuy in the oldest city Malacca, the highland resort Cameron in Pahang, the UNSCO World Heritage city George Town in Penang, and the sunny beach in Langkawi. 10 days are sufficient to visit all these cities. If your Malaysia tour is less than 10 days, you can choose three or four cities to explore.

Located near the equator, Malaysia has a classic equatorial climate - hot and humid all year round. If you go to western side of Peninsular Malaysia like, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Langkawi, the best time is from November to February with low rainfall. If your Malaysia tour is for eastern side of Peninsular Malaysia like Tioman Island, the best time is May to September. Visiting the East Malaysia, the best time is June to August for spotting the wildlife like orangutans and turtles.

Visitors from most of the countries like all EU countries, Canada, Australia, Unites States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Russia, do not need a visa to travel to Malaysia if their stay is less than 1 or 3 months. Visitors from the countries Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Montenegro, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Serbia and Sri Lanka can apply for E-visa online in advance.

Travelers can enter Malaysia by international flights through Kuala Lumpur, Penang or Kota Kinabalu. As the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur has two airports: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Skypark Subang Airport (SZB). Most of the international flights fly to KUL and some from Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia fly to SZB. When in Malaysia, visitors can use flights, ferries, or buses traveling among most of the tourist cities like Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu. For time-saving, you can choose flights, and the big airlines are Air Asia, Malaysia Airlines, Fire Fly. If in a lower budget, you may consider taking ferries or buses to save costs.

Tipping is not customary in Malaysia. However on a guided Malaysia tour, if you are satisfied with the services of your guide and driver, it is recommended to tip them. In hotels, if you need any help from the hotel staff like carrying your luggage, a small amount of tipping is appreciated. In many western-style restaurants, an additional service charge will be added to the bill. Tipping is not expected by taxi drivers.
